Privacy Policy

· Made by mud-studio

Markpin runs entirely in your browser and on your computer. There is no server, no account and no analytics. What you save stays in your browser and, only if you choose, in a folder on your computer or in your Google Drive.

What Markpin stores

Markpin stores only what you choose to save:

Where it is stored

Everything lives in your Chrome profile's local database (IndexedDB). This needs no connection and no setup.

If you like, you can connect a folder on your computer. Markpin then writes the same content there as Markdown files. This uses Chrome's File System Access permission, which you grant yourself and can take back at any time.

Or you can connect Google Drive instead. Markpin creates a folder called "Markpin" in your My Drive and keeps the same Markdown files there.

Google Drive and Google user data

When you connect Google Drive, Markpin asks for the drive.file scope. This scope only lets Markpin see, create, edit and delete files it created itself. It cannot read anything else in your Drive.

Markpin reads your Google account email once, so it can show you which account is connected. The sign-in token is issued and held by Chrome. Markpin has no server and never receives it.

Markpin's use of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. Data from Google APIs is used only to sync your own files. It is never sent to us or to anyone else.

You can disconnect Drive in Markpin's settings, which revokes the token. You can also remove Markpin's access at any time from your Google account's permissions page.

On-device AI

Summaries and tag suggestions use the language model built into Chrome, which runs on your device. They are on by default whenever Chrome has the model, and you can turn them off in the options at any time. Page text is never sent to us or to any AI provider.

The MCP server

@markpin/mcp is a separate program you can install so that AI clients like Claude or Cursor can read your pages. It runs on your computer, reads only the folder you point it at, and talks only to the client on that same machine. We never see any of it. Write tools are off unless you start it with --allow-write, and when the client supports it, each write asks for your confirmation first.

Permissions Markpin asks for

What Markpin does not do

You're in control

You can delete any page or clip from the side panel. If a folder or Drive is connected, the file is removed there at the next sync.

You can disconnect a folder or Drive at any time in the settings. Your files stay where they are; Markpin just stops syncing.

Uninstalling Markpin removes its browser data. The files in your folder or Drive are still yours to keep or delete.

Children

Markpin is not aimed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect any information from them. In fact, we collect no personal information from anyone.

Changes

If this policy changes, we will post the new version here with a new effective date.
